On this page, you will find samples of the work I've completed throughout my Master of Arts in Education (MAED) Program. In addition to being relevant to my program concentrations, these artifacts were specifically chosen because of the significant influence they had on my development and growth.
I chose to organize my work into two categories, Helping Literacy Learners and Classroom Management Resources.
Because of my passion for struggling literacy learners, I had the opportunity to create many resources and complete multiple case studies featuring current students. In the "Helping Literacy Learners" section, you'll find a resource I created for assistive technology, case studies on two students with whom I worked over the past two years, and a unit plan focusing on diversity in children's literature.
Over the past few years, I've developed a keen interest in the psychology of young children, specifically how it relates to classroom management. In the "Classroom Management Resources" section, you'll find resources I've created to assist teachers in developing successful classroom management. I've included a classroom management plan, a peek at the first week, a resource on social emotional learning, and blog post on classroom management-related technology.

Helping Literacy Learners
-WEBSITE-
I created this website, along with a colleague, as a resource for those interested in finding ways to help struggling readers through the use of assistive technology. We first start off by introducing assistive technology for those who might be unfamiliar. We then provide video and web resources for teachers, parents, or caregivers of struggling readers. We also gave suggestions of apps that could assist struggling readers in and out of the classroom. Our project was voted best website by our colleagues. |
-GOOGLE DOC-
This summer, I tutored a rising first grader who struggled greatly in literacy. I completed this research project to learn more about his abilities and help guide my instruction. I collected data on his letter sound knowledge, sight word knowledge, and concepts about print. I discovered that his most pressing need was instruction in sight word recognition and planned activities accordingly. This project details my research and provides recommendations for future learning. |

This case study was completed with one of my PreK students. I was worried about his progress and kindergarten readiness so I collected and analyzed data, administered interventions, and reassessed after the interventions. Specifically, I looked to see his abilities in letter names, letter sounds, concepts about print, and his phonological awareness skills. At the end, I summarized the student's progress and provided recommendations for future learning. |

I created this unit to highlight diversity in children's literature. Specifically, I wanted to showcase characters with disabilities in picture books. I selected 7 award winning children's books all featuring characters with various disabilities and created a 4 week unit plan. I also reviewed 4 additional diverse children's books and provided teaching resources for each. |
Classroom Management Resources
-WEBSITE-
I created this classroom management plan going into my first year teaching Pre-K. I'd recently switched to Pre-K from 1st grade, and realized my current classroom management plan wasn't appropriate for my new age level. In this plan, I describe my overall classroom/school rules, and expectations for transitions, behavior management, beginning and ending routines, managing student work, and managing independent work periods |

I created this resource in hopes of eliminating some of the "Back to School" stress most teachers experience when deciding how to teach rules, procedures, and behavior expectations. As a new teacher, I wanted to be prepared with a concrete plan of action for teaching those important topics. In this resource, I include a problem statement, my ending goals, classroom management statistics, sample lesson plans, and teaching strategies. |
-BLOG POST-
I created this blog post as a resource for teachers wanting to enhance their socio-emotional learning instruction. The language is geared towards Pre-K teachers, but could be applied at any elementary grade level. On this resource, I discuss the 5 key areas of socio-emotional learning and provided resources and ideas for enhancing socio-emotional learning in the classroom. |
-BLOG POST-
This blog post discusses four different technologies teachers can use to enhance their classroom management: Class Dojo, ABCya, Visual Schedule Planner, and Too Noisy. At the time I wrote this blog post, my school had limited access to technology, but the apps and websites listed can all be used with even the most basic access to technology resources. I continue to use all of these resources in my classroom today with exception of Class Dojo. My new school purchased a similar school-wide program called PBIS Rewards that we use instead. |
